Indications

Indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms, including: Respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, pharyngitis) Skin and soft tissue infections Ear infections (otitis media) Sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea) Bacterial sinusitis

Dosage & Administration

As directed by the physician. Dosage may vary based on the severity of the infection and patient condition. Adults & children over 12 years: 500 mg once daily for 3 days or as prescribed.

Adverse Effects

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea Abdominal pain Headache, dizziness Skin rash (rare) Seek immediate medical attention if serious allergic reactions or liver dysfunction symptoms occur.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin, erythromycin, or any macrolide antibiotics. Severe hepatic impairment.

Warnings & Precautions

Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment. May prolong QT interval; use cautiously in patients with existing cardiac conditions. Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea has been reported; discontinue if severe diarrhea occurs.

Drug Interactions

Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum may reduce the absorption of Azithromycin. May enhance the effects of warfarin; monitor INR levels. Avoid concurrent use with drugs that prolong the QT interval (e.g., amiodarone, quinidine).

Storage Instructions

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. PRESENTATION: Schedule H Prescription Drug – To be sold by retail on prescription of a registered medical practitioner only.
