ALKA C SYP is an effective urinary alkalinizing syrup designed to alleviate discomfort, burning, and pain associated with urinary infections and acidic urine. Containing Disodium Hydrogen Citrate in a pleasant-tasting base, it rapidly raises urinary pH to prevent stone formation and soothe urethral irritation. This formulation serves as an essential therapy for maintaining renal and urinary tract health.
Indications
This urinary alkalinizer is indicated for:
- Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Relief of dysuria, urgency, and burning micturition in acute and chronic UTIs.
- Uric Acid Lithiasis: Prevention and dissolution of uric acid and cystine kidney stones.
- Gouty Arthritis: Increasing the urinary clearance and elimination of excess uric acid from the bloodstream.
- Acidosis Management: Correcting mild metabolic acidosis associated with renal disorders.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: Take 15 ml (3 metric teaspoons) diluted in a full glass of water, 2 to 3 times a day after meals. Children over 6 years: Take 5 ml diluted in water, 2 to 3 times daily after food, or as prescribed by the treating pediatrician.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure, hypernatremia, acute dehydration, congestive heart failure, and severe hypertension. Avoid use if there is a known allergy to Disodium Hydrogen Citrate.
Warnings & Precautions
Patients on low-sodium or sodium-free diets must exercise caution due to the sodium content of this medication. Always dilute well with water before administration to prevent gastrointestinal mucosa irritation.
Drug Interactions
Alkaline urine produced by Disodium Hydrogen Citrate can reduce the therapeutic efficacy of urinary anti-infectives like methenamine and nitrofurantoin. It may also alter the renal clearance of lithium, chlorpropamide, and salicylates.
