ETOCIAN MR is a specialized fixed-dose combination designed to address acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions accompanied by muscle spasms. By pairing an advanced non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with a potent muscle relaxant, it targets both root causes of orthopedic and neuromuscular discomfort to rapidly restore mobility.
Indications
This combination medication is indicated for the treatment of:
- Acute Low Back Pain: Relieves severe lumbar discomfort linked to muscle contractures.
- Muscle Spasms: Alleviates painful spasms associated with acute spine, neck, or joint disorders.
- Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis: Provides rapid symptomatic relief during flare-ups complicated by localized muscle rigidity.
- Post-Operative Orthopedic Pain: Aids recovery following musculoskeletal surgeries by reducing spasms and localized swelling.
Dosage & Administration
For adult patients, the standard recommended dosage is one tablet taken orally once or twice daily, depending on clinical severity. It is best taken after a meal to optimize tolerance. The duration of therapy should be restricted to short-term management, generally not exceeding 5 to 7 consecutive days.

Commonly reported adverse effects include:
- Abdominal pain, dyspepsia, flatulence, and mild nausea

Contraindications
Do not administer to patients with known hypersensitivity to Etoricoxib, Thiocolchicoside, or other NSAIDs. It is absolutely contraindicated in individuals with active peptic ulceration, inflammatory bowel disease, severe ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or advanced renal or hepatic impairment. It must not be given to pregnant or lactating women, nor to individuals under 16 years of age.
Warnings & Precautions
Cardiovascular risk factors must be closely assessed before initiating therapy, as selective COX-2 inhibitors can elevate thrombotic risks. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is essential during the initial weeks of treatment. Use with strict caution in patients prone to seizures or epilepsy, as Thiocolchicoside can potentially trigger convulsive episodes.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant administration with oral anticoagulants like Warfarin may increase bleeding risks. Co-administration with other NSAIDs or systemic corticosteroids elevates the risk of gastrointestinal ulceration. It may reduce the therapeutic efficacy of antihypertensives and diuretics, while increasing serum levels of Lithium and Methotrexate.
