Product Overview

GABA NT Tablet is a highly effective combination therapy engineered to manage chronic neuropathic pain. By combining a structural analogue of GABA with a tricyclic antidepressant, it addresses nerve pain through complementary pathways. This formulation helps restore normalcy to disrupted nerve signals, providing relief from burning and stabbing sensations.

Indications

GABA NT Tablets are indicated for managing adult patients suffering from:

  • Diabetic Neuropathy: Controls peripheral nerve damage pain caused by long-term high blood sugar levels.
  • Post-Herpetic Neuralgia: Relieves persistent nerve pain that remains after a shingles outbreak.
  • Fibromyalgia: Manages widespread musculoskeletal pain and nerve sensitivity.
  • Chronic Nerve Injury Pain: Treats localized nerve pain resulting from trauma, compression, or surgical injury.

Dosage & Administration

GABA NT should be swallowed whole with water, either with or without food. The standard adult starting dose is typically one tablet taken once daily, preferably at bedtime to minimize daytime somnolence. The physician may titrate the dosage based on patient response and tolerability. Abrupt discontinuation must be avoided; the dose should be gradually tapered off over at least one week to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

Adverse Effects

Commonly reported side effects include somnolence (drowsiness), dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, weight gain, fatigue, and peripheral edema. Most side effects are mild to moderate and clear up as the body adapts to the medication.

Contraindications

GABA NT is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to gabapentin, nortriptyline, or other tricyclic antidepressants. It must not be used during the immediate recovery phase following a myocardial infarction (heart attack), in patients with severe cardiac arrhythmias, or concurrently with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).

Warnings & Precautions

Antiepileptic and antidepressant drugs can increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors; closely monitor patients for worsening depression or sudden mood shifts. Use with caution in individuals with compromised renal function, hepatic impairment, narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, or a history of seizures. Patients should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until they understand how this medication affects their alertness.

Drug Interactions

Central nervous system depressants, including alcohol, opioids, and sedatives, can potentiate the sedative effects of this drug. Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium reduce the bioavailability of gabapentin; ensure a 2-hour administration gap. Concomitant administration with drugs that prolong the QT interval increases the risk of cardiac arrhythmias.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight and moisture.
