Product Overview

MARION is a synthetic hormonal tablet formulated to safeguard and support complicated pregnancies. Containing 5mg of Allylestrenol, it acts effectively like natural progesterone to relax uterine muscles and prevent premature labor. It is widely prescribed to improve the thickness of the uterine lining and ensure a secure environment for fetal development.

Indications

This hormonal therapy tablet is primarily indicated for:

  • Threatened Miscarriage: Managing acute episodes of vaginal bleeding and uterine cramps during early pregnancy.
  • Recurrent Miscarriage: Prophylactic care in women with a clinical history of multiple consecutive pregnancy losses.
  • Premature Labor Prevention: Relaxing the uterus in pregnant women at risk of early delivery.

Dosage & Administration

Tablets must be swallowed whole with water, preferably at the same time each day. For threatened miscarriage, the typical dose is 5mg taken three times daily for a duration determined by the clinician. For recurrent miscarriage prophylaxis, 5mg to 10mg daily is common once pregnancy is confirmed.

Adverse Effects

Common hormonal side effects can include:

  • Mild peripheral edema or fluid retention
  • Abdominal bloating and nausea
  • Headache or temporary fatigue

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with active thromboembolic disorders (blood clots), severe liver dysfunction, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, breast cancer, or a history of missed abortions.

Warnings & Precautions

Use with caution in patients with pre-existing medical conditions like asthma, epilepsy, migraines, or cardiac dysfunction, as fluid retention may worsen these states. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is necessary in patients with gestational diabetes.

Drug Interactions

Hepatic enzyme-inducing drugs such as rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, and phenobarbital can speed up the clearance of allylestrenol, reducing its efficacy. It may also alter the requirements for oral anticoagulants and antidiabetic therapies.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture variations.
