Product Overview

ETORAP ER TAB is an extended-release anti-inflammatory formulation designed to provide sustained, 24-hour relief from chronic joint pain and structural inflammation. It offers a balanced safety profile for long-term management of arthritic diseases, helping patients maintain optimal physical function.

Indications

This sustained-release medication is primarily indicated for:

  • Osteoarthritis: Reduces chronic cartilage pain, joint tenderness, and swelling in weight-bearing joints.
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis: Manages autoimmune-mediated joint inflammation and prevents progressive tissue damage.
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis: Minimizes severe spinal stiffness and nocturnal back pain.
  • Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain: Controls recurring inflammation affecting ligaments, tendons, and surrounding joint capsules.

Dosage & Administration

The standard adult dose is one tablet (600 mg) taken once daily, ideally at the same time each day. Tablets must be swallowed whole with water and should never be crushed, chewed, or split, as breaking the tablet destroys the extended-release mechanism. Administration with food or milk is recommended to minimize gastric distress.

Adverse Effects

Observed adverse effects include:

  • Heartburn, epigastric pain, nausea, and flatulence
  • Dizziness, blurred vision, or nervous system headache
  • Fluid retention resulting in mild peripheral edema
  • Tinnitus or ringing sensations in the ears

Contraindications

Contraindicated in individuals with a history of aspirin-induced asthma, urticaria, or severe allergic-type reactions following other NSAID usage. It is strictly avoided in patients with active gastrointestinal bleeding, severe congestive heart failure, advanced renal disease, or immediately prior to or following coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.

Warnings & Precautions

Long-term administration demands periodic evaluations of renal and hepatic function alongside complete blood counts. Caution must be exercised in elderly patients, who face a higher baseline risk for occult gastrointestinal ulcerations. Patients should be advised to avoid concurrent consumption of alcohol to safeguard the gastric mucosa.

Drug Interactions

Etodolac can increase the risk of bleeding when paired with antiplatelet drugs, aspirin, or low-molecular-weight heparins. It can potentially raise plasma concentrations of Methotrexate, Cyclosporine, and Lithium to toxic levels. It may also compromise the efficacy of ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers, and loop diuretics.

Storage Instructions

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from excessive humidity and direct light exposure.
