Product Overview
IODIN PLUS OINT is a broad-spectrum antiseptic ointment formulated to treat and prevent minor skin infections in cuts, scrapes, and burns. It releases active iodine steadily to eliminate bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa from the affected area. The soothing ointment base keeps the skin protected while promoting natural healing.
Indications
This antiseptic ointment is indicated for the following uses:
- Wound Infection Prevention: For minor cuts, abrasions, grazes, and skin tears.
- Burn Management: Prevention of microbial colonization in minor superficial burns.
- Surgical Care: Post-operative dressing and site protection against pathogens.
- Pyogenic Skin Infections: Topical adjunctive therapy for superficial pyoderma, sycosis barbae, and furunculosis.
Dosage & Administration
Clean the affected skin surface thoroughly and dry gently. Apply a thin layer of the ointment directly to the infected region one to three times daily. The treated area may be left uncovered or protected with a sterile bandage if required.
Adverse Effects
Common and minor adverse reactions may include:
- Local skin irritation or redness
- Mild stinging or burning sensation at the application site
- Allergic contact dermatitis in sensitive individuals

Contraindications
Do not use this product in patients with a known hypersensitivity to iodine, povidone, or any other components in the ointment base. It is strictly contraindicated in individuals with active thyroid disorders, including nodular colloid goiter, endemic goiter, and Hashimoto thyroiditis, as well as before and after radioactive iodine therapy.
Warnings & Precautions
For external topical use only. Avoid getting the product into the eyes or deep open puncture wounds. Prolonged use over extensive broken skin surfaces can lead to systemic absorption of iodine, requiring regular assessment of thyroid function parameters. Use with extreme caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and consult a physician before use in infants.
Drug Interactions
Concurrent use with topical preparations containing silver, hydrogen peroxide, taurolidine, or enzymatic wound debriding agents may neutralize the therapeutic efficacy of both compounds. Do not use alongside mercurial skin antiseptics, as this combination forms a corrosive substance that damages skin tissue.
Storage Instructions
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use.
