Product Overview

APHYLINE M is a potent respiratory combination formulated to provide sustained relief from bronchial asthma, COPD, and allergic rhinitis. Combining sustained-release Acebrophylline with Montelukast, it delivers simultaneous bronchodilation, mucolysis, and anti-leukotriene action to keep airways open and clear of sticky mucus. This twice-action bilayered tablet reduces airway inflammation and prevents frequency of asthmatic attacks.

Indications

This bilayered tablet is indicated for:

  • Bronchial Asthma: Prophylaxis and chronic management of asthma, including prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): Maintenance therapy for airflow obstruction, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema.
  • Allergic Rhinitis with Asthma: Comprehensive management of seasonal and perennial allergic symptoms accompanied by lower airway spasm.
  • Airway Hyper-responsiveness: Reducing inflammation and mucus hypersecretion in reactive airway disease.

Dosage & Administration

The recommended adult dosage is one tablet once daily, preferably taken in the evening after a meal, or as prescribed by a respiratory physician. Swallow whole with water; do not crush, chew, or break the sustained-release tablet.

Adverse Effects

  • Epigastric pain, nausea, or vomiting
  • Headache and dizziness
  • Diarrhea or dyspepsia
  • Restlessness or mild tremors

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Acebrophylline, Montelukast, or xanthine derivatives. Do not administer to patients with acute myocardial infarction, hypotension, hemodynamically unstable cardiac arrhythmias, or severe renal impairment.

Warnings & Precautions

Not intended for relieving acute bronchospasm or asthma attacks; patients must keep a short-acting rescue inhaler available. Use with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction, hyperthyroidism, hypertension, or a history of seizure disorders. Monitor for neuropsychiatric events associated with montelukast.

Drug Interactions

Acebrophylline clearance may be reduced by CYP450 inhibitors such as erythromycin, ciprofloxacin, cimetidine, and allopurinol, leading to increased plasma levels and potential toxicity. Co-administration with phenytoin, phenobarbital, or rifampicin can decrease the plasma concentration of both active components.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from direct moisture and light. Keep out of reach of children.
