AZIC 250 TAB is a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic formulated to eliminate a wide array of bacterial infections. Offering an advanced tissue-targeted pharmacokinetic profile, it ensures effective clinical recovery with a convenient, short-duration dosing regimen.

Indications

This medication is primarily indicated for:

  • Upper Respiratory Tract Infections: Effectively treats acute bacterial sinusitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis.
  • Lower Respiratory Tract Infections: Manages community-acquired pneumonia and acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis.
  • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Eradicates uncomplicated skin structures infections caused by susceptible pathogens.
  • Genitourinary Tract Infections: Treats uncomplicated urethritis and cervicitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis.

Dosage & Administration

The standard adult dosage is 500mg on Day 1, followed by 250mg once daily on Days 2 through 5 (a total 3-day or 5-day course). It can be taken with or without food, swallowed whole with water.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with prior azithromycin use, or known hypersensitivity to macrolide antibiotics.

Warnings & Precautions

Use with caution in patients prone to QT interval prolongation, severe renal impairment, or hepatic disease. Prolonged use may result in fungal or bacterial superinfections, including Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea.

Drug Interactions

Avoid co-administration with ergot derivatives. Monitor clinical status when used with warfarin, digoxin, cyclosporine, or antacids containing aluminum or magnesium (which lower peak serum concentrations).
