Product Overview
I CEF 1.5 INJ is a potent combination antibiotic intended for severe bacterial infections resistant to conventional monotherapy. It provides an extended antibacterial spectrum by combining a broad-spectrum cephalosporin with a beta-lactamase inhibitor.
Indications
This injection is clinically indicated for the management of severe infections including:
- Lower respiratory tract infections, including community-acquired and nosocomial pneumonia.
- Intra-abdominal infections, peritonitis, and complicated urinary tract infections.
- Bacterial septicemia, meningitis, and surgical prophylaxis.
- Bone, joint, skin, and soft tissue infections.
Dosage & Administration
Administered via deep intramuscular injection or slow intravenous infusion. The standard adult dose ranges from 1.5g to 3g every 12 to 24 hours, depending on the severity of the infection and patient renal function.
Adverse Effects
Reported side effects include local pain or tenderness at the injection site, transient skin rash, diarrhea, nausea, elevation of hepatic transaminases, and eosinophilia.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, penicillins, or other beta-lactam agents. Do not co-administer with calcium-containing intravenous solutions in neonates due to the risk of precipitate formation.
Warnings & Precautions
Careful evaluation is necessary for patients with impaired hepatic or renal function. Prolonged usage may lead to superinfections or Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea. Modify dosage in severe renal impairment.
Drug Interactions
Concurrent administration with powerful loop diuretics or nephrotoxic drugs like aminoglycosides may elevate the risk of nephrotoxicity. Avoid mixing with calcium-containing infusions in the same administration line.
Storage Instructions
Store dry powder below 30°C. Protect from direct light. Use immediately after reconstitution with sterile water for injection.
