BETA H 16 TAB is a standard systemic formulation targeted at correcting vestibular imbalances and microcirculatory disturbances in the inner ear. It serves as an essential therapy for managing disabling symptoms associated with Ménière's syndrome, specifically chronic vertigo and tinnitus.
Indications
This medication is primarily indicated for:
- Ménière's Syndrome: Alleviates the triad of recurrent vertigo, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and progressive hearing loss.
- Vestibular Vertigo: Treats peripheral dizziness and balance disorders stemming from inner ear dysfunctions.
Dosage & Administration
The standard adult dose is 24mg to 48mg daily, divided equally into 2 or 3 doses (e.g., one 16mg tablet three times a day). Tablets must be taken preferably during or after meals to minimize gastric irritation.

Common side effects may include:
- Mild gastric upset, bloating, or dyspepsia

- Nausea or vomiting

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients diagnosed with pheochromocytoma, as it may stimulate catecholamine release leading to severe hypertension. Do not use in patients with active peptic ulcers or known hypersensitivity.
Warnings & Precautions
Patients presenting with bronchial asthma, a history of peptic ulcer disease, or severe hypotension must be monitored continuously during therapy. Safety profiles have not been established for individuals under 18 years of age.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use with antihistamines may mutually diminish the therapeutic efficacy of both drugs. Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including selective MAO-B inhibitors, may decrease betahistine metabolism and elevate serum exposure.
