Product Overview
CEFOCIAN 1GM INJ is a potent, broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic designed for intravenous or intramuscular administration. It is indicated for treating severe, life-threatening bacterial infections throughout the body.
Indications
This product is indicated for:
- Severe Sepsis: Management of systemic bloodstream infections.
- Meningitis: Effective treatment of bacterial central nervous system infections.
- Respiratory Infections: Manages severe community-acquired or nosocomial pneumonia.
- Surgical Prophylaxis: Used pre-operatively to prevent post-surgical deep tissue infection site developments.
Dosage & Administration
Administered via Deep Intramuscular (IM) injection or Slow Intravenous (IV) infusion. Standard adult dosage is 1g to 2g once daily, depending on infection severity.
Adverse Effects
Injection site pain, local phlebitis, diarrhea, eosinophilia, transient elevations in liver transaminases, or pseudomembranous colitis in rare cases.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins. Absolutely contraindicated in neonates requiring concurrent calcium-containing IV solutions.
Warnings & Precautions
Perform careful hypersensitivity evaluations before administration. Long-term use may cause overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms. Monitor renal and hepatic function in high-risk patients.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use with calcium-containing intravenous fluids may precipitate deadly complexes in the lungs and kidneys. May augment the anticoagulant effects of vitamin K antagonists like Warfarin.
Storage Instructions
Store dry powder below 25°C. Reconstituted solutions should be used immediately after preparation.
