CEL-FINE 250 TAB is a powerful systemic antifungal medication containing 250mg of Terbinafine. It is highly effective in treating stubborn dermatophyte infections affecting the skin, hair, and nails, such as ringworm, jock itch, and onychomycosis. It eradicates fungal structures at their root, ensuring long-lasting dermal clarity.
Indications
CEL-FINE 250 TAB is indicated for:
- Onychomycosis: Fungal infections of fingernails and toenails caused by dermatophytes.
- Tinea Corporis / Cruris / Pedis: Severe or extensive ringworm, jock itch, and athlete's foot unresponsive to topical therapy.
- Tinea Capitis: Fungal scalp infections requiring systemic intervention.
Dosage & Administration
The standard adult dose is one 250mg tablet taken once daily. Treatment duration varies by pathology: 2 to 4 weeks for tinea cruris/corporis, 6 weeks for fingernail onychomycosis, and 12 weeks for toenail infections. Take with or without food.
Adverse Effects
Common adverse effects include:
- Gastrointestinal symptoms (dyspepsia, bloating, nausea)
- Headache and taste disturbances
- Transient elevation of liver enzymes

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with active or chronic hepatic disease, severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 50 ml/min), or known hypersensitivity to Terbinafine.
Warnings & Precautions
Hepatotoxicity has occurred in rare cases; liver function monitoring is highly recommended before starting treatment and periodically throughout the course. Instruct patients to report signs of persistent nausea, jaundice, dark urine, or pale stools immediately.
Drug Interactions
Terbinafine is a potent inhibitor of the CYP2D6 isoenzyme, meaning it can significantly increase plasma levels of tricyclic antidepressants, beta-blockers, and MAOIs. Rifampicin accelerates terbinafine clearance, whereas cimetidine decreases it.
