Indications
This medication is primarily indicated for:
- Typhoid Fever: Effectively eliminates resistant Salmonella typhi strains in enteric infections.
- Complicated Urinary Tract Infections: Clears persistent bacterial pathogens from the urinary system.
- Severe Respiratory Infections: Addresses severe cases of bronchitis, pharyngitis, and community pneumonia.
Dosage & Administration
The standard adult dose is one tablet twice daily (every 12 hours) for a duration of 5 to 14 days, as directed by the clinical practitioner based on the severity of the infection.
Adverse Effects
Common adverse profiles include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, headache, and transient dizziness.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or fluoroquinolone antibiotics, and patients with a past history of tendon rupture.
Warnings & Precautions
Use with caution in patients with central nervous system disorders or epilepsy. Fluoroquinolones carry warnings regarding potential tendonitis, tendon rupture, and peripheral neuropathy symptoms.
Drug Interactions
Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, iron supplements, and multivitamins with zinc significantly reduce the oral absorption of Ofloxacin; separate administration by two hours.
