CELITHRO 500 is a high-potency macrolide antibiotic formulated to eliminate bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, skin, and soft tissues. It offers a convenient, short-course therapy that ensures excellent patient compliance and reliable clinical outcomes.
Indications
This medication is primarily indicated for:
- Respiratory Tract Infections: Acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, sinusitis, and tonsillitis.
- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Uncomplicated skin structures infections caused by susceptible pathogens.
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases: Non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis.
Dosage & Administration
The standard adult dosage is 500 mg once daily for 3 to 5 days, depending on the severity of the infection. It should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food.

- Vomiting and dyspepsia

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or any macrolide or ketolide antibiotic, and in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with prior azithromycin use.
Warnings & Precautions
Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment or severe renal insufficiency. Prolonged cardiac repolarization and QT interval changes, creating a risk of cardiac arrhythmia, have been observed; exercise caution in predisposed individuals.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant administration with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium slows the rate of absorption. Monitor closely when co-administered with digoxin, warfarin, or ergot derivatives.
