CIANPOD 200 TAB is an oral, third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that functions as an advanced prodrug for maximum systemic availability. It delivers highly reliable, broad-spectrum bactericidal efficacy against challenging Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens.
Indications
This premium antibiotic is indicated for:
- Acute Respiratory Tract Infections: Severe acute community-acquired pneumonia, chronic bronchitis flare-ups, and maxillary sinusitis.
- ENT Infections: Acute otitis media, pharyngitis, and recurrent tonsillitis.
- Uncomplicated Skin Infections: Abscesses, cellulitis, and furunculosis caused by susceptible strains.
- Genitourinary Tract Infections: Acute uncomplicated urethral or cervical gonorrhea and uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
Dosage & Administration
For adults and adolescents, the standard dosage is 200 mg administered orally every 12 hours for 5 to 14 days. To ensure optimal gastrointestinal absorption and maximum bioavailability, this tablet should be taken with food.
Adverse Effects
Most frequent adverse events include transient diarrhea, nausea, vaginal fungal infections, abdominal pain, and headache. Discontinuation due to severe side effects is clinically rare.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with a history of anaphylactic or immediate hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins, penicillins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
Warnings & Precautions
Investigate prior allergies before initiating therapy. In case of severe, persistent diarrhea, evaluate for pseudomembranous colitis. Adjust dosing intervals if the patient has a creatinine clearance below 30 mL/min.
Drug Interactions
Concurrent administration of high-dose antacids or H2-receptor antagonists (like ranitidine) decreases absorption by altering gastric pH. Probenecid reduces the renal clearance of cefpodoxime, increasing its plasma half-life.
