Product Overview
CIANPOD 50 DRY SYP is an oral cephalosporin antibiotic suspension specially formulated for pediatric patients to treat acute bacterial infections. It delivers reliable therapeutic efficacy against susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, helping young patients recover quickly. This high-demand pediatric formulation is highly valued by pharma distributors looking to expand their antibiotic product portfolio.
Indications
This pediatric oral suspension is indicated for the treatment of mild-to-moderate infections in children caused by susceptible microorganisms:
- Acute Otitis Media: Middle ear infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae.
- Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis: Throat infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Community-Acquired Pneumonia: Lower respiratory tract infections.
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections: Infections of the bladder and urinary tract caused by Escherichia coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Dosage & Administration
For oral pediatric administration. The standard dosage is typically 10 mg/kg/day divided into two equal doses administered every 12 hours, or as directed by a registered medical practitioner. The dry powder must be thoroughly reconstituted with sterile water up to the ring mark on the bottle before usage, and shaken well before every dose.
Adverse Effects
Commonly reported adverse effects in pediatric patients include:
- Mild diarrhea or loose stools
- Nausea and localized abdominal discomfort
- Diaper rash or skin eruptions
- Transient headache

Contraindications
Do not administer to patients with a documented history of severe hypersensitivity to Cefpodoxime, other cephalosporin class antibiotics, or any component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in infants under 2 months of age.
Warnings & Precautions
Use with caution in pediatric patients exhibiting a known sensitivity to penicillin antibiotics due to the potential risk of cross-reactivity. If severe, persistent diarrhea develops during or after therapy, evaluate for Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) immediately.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant administration of high-dose antacids or H2 blockers may lower gastric acidity, leading to reduced systemic absorption and decreased plasma concentrations of Cefpodoxime. Probenecid can inhibit renal excretion, resulting in elevated blood levels of the antibiotic.
Storage Instructions
Store the dry powder below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Once reconstituted, store the liquid suspension in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C, and discard any unused portion after 10 to 14 days as per instruction.
