Product Overview

ESOMAG 40 (NEW) is a highly effective proton pump inhibitor containing 40mg of enteric-coated Esomeprazole Magnesium. It provides prolonged control over gastric acid production, accelerating the healing of mucosal linings and offering relief from persistent heartburn. This formulation represents a foundational high-demand product for general practitioners and gastroenterology-focused pharma networks.

Indications

ESOMAG 40 (NEW) is indicated for the definitive management of:

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Healing erosive esophagitis and providing long-term maintenance to prevent reflux relapse.
  • Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD): Treating active duodenal or gastric ulcers, and protecting mucosal linings during continuous NSAID use.
  • Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Managing pathological hypersecretory conditions requiring sustained high-dose acid suppression.
  • H. pylori Eradication: Used in combination with target antibiotics to clear Helicobacter pylori infections.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 1 tablet daily, taken strictly 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast. The tablet must be swallowed whole with water—do not break, crush, or chew, to preserve the enteric coating.

Adverse Effects

Generally well tolerated; potential side effects include:

  • Cephalea (headache)
  • Diarrhea, abdominal flatulence, or nausea
  • Dryness of the mouth
  • Transient skin reactions or pruritus

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles, or any formulation component. Do not co-administer with antiretroviral agents like nelfinavir or atazanavir.

Warnings & Precautions

Sustained therapy exceeding three months can increase the risk of hypomagnesemia; long-term use exceeding one year may elevate the risk of osteoporotic bone fractures. Symptomatic response to therapy does not rule out the presence of gastric malignancy.

Drug Interactions

By raising gastric pH levels, it can significantly decrease the systemic absorption of ketoconazole, itraconazole, and erlotinib. It may elevate plasma levels of diazepam, citalopram, and warfarin by inhibiting CYP2C19 metabolic pathways.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in the original blister pack to protect from ambient moisture and light.
