Product Overview

GLIC CI M TAB is a dependable oral hypoglycemic combination formulated for individuals managing type 2 diabetes mellitus. It combines a second-generation sulfonylurea with a biguanide to improve insulin availability and efficiency. This balanced dual-action approach helps minimize post-meal blood sugar spikes and maintains daily glycemic stability.

Indications

GLIC CI M TAB is indicated for the treatment and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus:

  • Monotherapy Failure: For patients whose blood sugar is inadequately controlled by metformin or sulfonylureas alone.
  • Glycemic Stabilization: For individuals experiencing erratic fasting or postprandial glucose shifts.
  • Comprehensive Management: As an adjunct to structured dietary modification and regular physical exercise.

Dosage & Administration

The dosage must be customized by a healthcare provider. The standard initial dose is one tablet taken orally once or twice daily during or immediately after major meals to reduce potential gastrointestinal upset. Tablets must be swallowed whole with adequate water.

Adverse Effects

Common side effects include hypoglycemia, gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, transient diarrhea, abdominal cramps, flatulence), headache, skin rash, and mild dizziness. Most digestive side effects subside after the initial weeks of therapy.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sulfonylureas, biguanides, or any product excipient. It is strictly contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure (eGFR less than 30 mL/min), hepatic insufficiency, type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or acute conditions that could compromise renal function.

Warnings & Precautions

Patient renal function must be assessed prior to starting treatment and regularly evaluated thereafter to mitigate the risk of metformin-induced lactic acidosis. Patients should be educated on recognizing and managing hypoglycemic episodes, especially when skipping meals or engaging in heavy exercise. Avoid use during pregnancy and lactation.

Drug Interactions

The hypoglycemic effect may be potentiated by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), salicylates, sulfonamides, and cimetidine. Thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, and phenothiazines may decrease the therapeutic efficacy of the drug, leading to elevated blood glucose levels.

Storage Instructions

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and atmospheric moisture.
