Product Overview

GLIM TWO SR is a high-strength bilayered sustained-release tablet designed for patients requiring enhanced insulin secretion coupled with prolonged glucose control. Featuring 2mg of Glimepiride alongside sustained-release Metformin, it provides robust 24-hour glycemic stability. This medication simplifies treatment for advanced type 2 diabetes management.

Indications

GLIM TWO SR is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when:

  • Increased Step-up Therapy: Lower strengths of glimepiride combined with metformin fail to achieve target HbA1c levels.
  • Fasting and Post-Meal Regulation: Patients require simultaneous management of elevated morning fasting glucose and post-meal sugar spikes.
  • Extended-release Maintenance: Patients require steady, round-the-clock metabolic support in a single daily dose.

Dosage & Administration

The standard dose is one tablet taken orally once daily in the morning with breakfast, or as prescribed by a physician. The tablet must be swallowed whole; do not break, crush, or chew the tablet to ensure the integrity of the sustained-release profile.

Adverse Effects

Adverse effects include hypoglycemia, mild abdominal discomfort, nausea, flatulence, diarrhea, headache, and transient weakness. Due to the higher sulfonylurea strength, close monitoring for symptoms of low blood sugar is recommended.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to sulfonylureas or biguanides, severe renal dysfunction (eGFR less than 30 mL/min), diabetic ketoacidosis, active hepatic disease, or during acute cardiovascular emergencies.

Warnings & Precautions

renal function should be evaluated regularly during treatment to prevent systemic drug accumulation and minimize the risk of lactic acidosis. Patients should understand how to manage potential hypoglycemic events. Suspension of therapy is required before undergoing major surgical procedures or contrast-dye imaging studies.

Drug Interactions

Concomitant administration with fluoroquinolones, miconazole, or coumarin derivatives can increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Loop diuretics, corticosteroids, and oral contraceptives may decrease the therapeutic effects, leading to elevated blood glucose levels. Avoid concurrent alcohol consumption.

Storage Instructions

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep the blister pack inside the original carton.
