Product Overview

GLIM ONE SR is an advanced bilayered sustained-release tablet engineered for effective 24-hour blood glucose management in type 2 diabetes. The formulation provides immediate-release insulin stimulation alongside a slow, steady release of insulin sensitizer. This mechanism ensures consistent glycemic control while minimizing frequent dosing.

Indications

GLIM ONE SR is indicated for adult patients requiring management of type 2 diabetes mellitus:

  • Long-acting Glycemic Management: For individuals requiring a steady, continuous anti-diabetic effect over 24 hours.
  • Combination Treatment: When monotherapy fails to control fasting or postprandial glucose levels.
  • Adherence Enhancement: For patients seeking to reduce pill burden through an extended-release option.

Dosage & Administration

The recommended dosage is one tablet taken orally once daily in the morning with breakfast. The tablet must be swallowed whole with water and should never be crushed, split, or chewed, as doing so destroys the sustained-release matrix and risks rapid drug dumping.

Adverse Effects

Common adverse effects include hypoglycemia, temporary nausea, vomiting, metallic taste, diarrhea, headache, and mild dizziness. The sustained-release delivery system significantly minimizes the severity of gastrointestinal side effects compared to immediate-release metformin.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in individuals with severe renal impairment (eGFR less than 30 mL/min), acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe hepatic impairment, or documented hypersensitivity to glimepiride or metformin.

Warnings & Precautions

Regular monitoring of renal function and blood glucose levels is highly recommended to ensure patient safety and avoid lactic acidosis accumulation. Instruct patients to maintain regular meal times to minimize the risk of glimepiride-induced hypoglycemia. Discontinue use before and during radiological studies involving iodinated contrast media.

Drug Interactions

Hypoglycemic actions can be enhanced by ACE inhibitors, anabolic steroids, and clarithromycin. Efficacy may be reduced by concurrent use of glucocorticoids, thyroid stimulants, and sympathomimetics. Alcohol consumption increases the risk of both lactic acidosis and severe hypoglycemia.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place. Keep out of reach of children and protect from direct solar exposure.
