I CEF 1GM INJ is a potent, broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic formulated for intravenous or intramuscular administration. It provides decisive therapeutic action against a wide array of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial pathogens.
Indications
This sterile antibiotic injection is indicated for:
- Lower Respiratory Infections: Severe community-acquired pneumonia and acute bronchitis complications.
- Bacterial Meningitis: Central nervous system bacterial infections demanding high cerebrospinal fluid penetration.
- Intra-abdominal Infections: Peritonitis and biliary tract infections.
- Surgical Prophylaxis: Prevention of post-operative infections across diverse clinical procedures.
Dosage & Administration
Administered via deep intramuscular injection or slow intravenous infusion. The usual adult dose ranges from 1 gram to 2 grams daily, depending on the severity and nature of the infection.
Adverse Effects
Common reactions include local pain or induration at the injection site, eosinophilia, thrombocytosis, diarrhea, rash, and transient elevations of liver transaminases.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with confirmed hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics. Do not administer to neonates requiring concurrent treatment with calcium-containing IV solutions.
Warnings & Precautions
Cross-sensitivity may occur in patients allergic to penicillin. Long-term use requires monitoring for hematological profiles and superinfections.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use with calcium-containing diluents can cause life-threatening precipitates in lungs and kidneys. May potentiate the anticoagulant actions of warfarin.
