Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, other quinolones, or any of the product excipients. It is strictly contraindicated in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone therapy and in individuals with epilepsy.
Warnings & Precautions
Fluoroquinolones are associated with an increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture, especially in elderly patients. Discontinue treatment immediately if tendon pain or inflammation occurs. Use with caution in patients with known central nervous system disorders predisposing to seizures, or those with prolonged QT intervals.
Drug Interactions
Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, iron supplements, sucralfate, and zinc multivitamins considerably reduce the gastrointestinal absorption of levofloxacin; take these at least two hours apart.
