Product Overview
MAG 20 TAB is an advanced proton pump inhibitor (PPI) indicated for the reliable treatment of acid peptic disorders and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The enteric coating ensures safe transit through gastric acid, allowing optimal absorption in the small intestine for long-lasting relief.
Indications
This gastroprotective enteric tablet is indicated for:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Manages heartburn and heals erosive esophagitis.
- Peptic Ulcer Disease: Promotes rapid healing of active duodenal and benign gastric ulcers.
- Hypersecretory States: Controls excessive acid output in clinical conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: One 20 mg tablet daily, taken in the morning at least 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast. The tablet must be swallowed whole with water; do not break, chew, or crush.
Adverse Effects
Generally well tolerated during routine courses. Reported side effects include:
- Headache or dizziness
- Mild gastrointestinal disturbances (flatulence, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or constipation)
- Skin rash or pruritus

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to omeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles, or any excipients. Do not co-administer with products containing rilpivirine or nelfinavir.
Warnings & Precautions
Symptomatic response to therapy does not preclude the presence of gastric malignancy. Long-term treatment exceeding one year may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures and hypomagnesemia; monitor electrolyte balances during extended regimens.
Drug Interactions
By increasing gastric pH, omeprazole may reduce the bioavailability of ketoconazole, itraconazole, and iron derivatives. It inhibits CYP2C19, which can prolong the clearance of diazepam and phenytoin, and may lower the therapeutic conversion of clopidogrel into its active form.
Storage Instructions
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect the enteric-coated tablets from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the container or blister packs tightly sealed.
