Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolones. Do not prescribe to individuals with pre-existing QT interval prolongation, uncorrected hypokalemia, or a clinical history of tendon disorders associated with fluoroquinolone therapy.
Warnings & Precautions
Fluoroquinolones are associated with serious risks, including tendinitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system effects. Discontinue treatment immediately if tendon pain, inflammation, or neurological symptoms occur. Use with caution in patients with known central nervous system disorders that may predispose them to seizures.
Drug Interactions
Co-administration with antacids, multivitamins, or supplements containing magnesium, aluminum, iron, or zinc significantly impairs oral moxifloxacin absorption; these should be taken at least 4 hours before or 8 hours after the antibiotic. Concurrent use with Class IA or Class III antiarrhythmic agents increases the risk of dangerous QT prolongation.
Storage Instructions
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Keep the tablets inside their blister packaging until use to protect them from ambient moisture.
