Product Overview
OFCIAN O TAB is a potent combination antimicrobial agent designed to treat mixed infections caused by susceptible bacteria and anaerobic protozoa. It offers comprehensive coverage for gastrointestinal tract infections, pelvic inflammatory diseases, and dental infections.
Indications
This combination therapy is clinically indicated for:
- Gastrointestinal Infections: Acute diarrhea, bacillary dysentery, and amoebiasis.
- Gynecological Infections: Pelvic inflammatory disease and mixed vaginal infections.
- Dental Infections: Severe periapical abscesses and mixed aerobic-anaerobic oral infections.
Dosage & Administration
The standard adult dose is one tablet taken orally twice daily (every 12 hours) for 3 to 5 days, preferably after meals to minimize gastrointestinal irritation.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ofloxacin, ornidazole, other fluoroquinolones, or nitroimidazole derivatives. Not to be used in patients with pre-existing central nervous system disorders like epilepsy.
Warnings & Precautions
Exercise caution in patients prone to tendon disorders, peripheral neuropathy, or hepatic impairment. Avoid alcohol consumption during therapy and for at least 48 hours after stopping ornidazole to prevent a disulfiram-like reaction.
Drug Interactions
Potentiates the effect of oral anticoagulants like warfarin, requiring prothrombin time monitoring. Concurrent administration with antacids, iron, or zinc reduces antibiotic absorption significantly.
